When You Feel Like You’re Just Blogging For Yourself!

Over the past year, I’ve felt lost in the online world of blogging. At first, I thought it was because I didn’t have enough time to fit it into my busy life. So I decided to create more time for myself. You can read about that here in ‘WHY IT’S IMPORTANT TO TAKE TIME FOR YOURSELF.’

It worked for me for a few weeks, but after a while of sticking to a schedule and getting some great posts out there, I was still feeling lost in an online world. So I decided to take some time off as I felt super lost and also feeling less inspired and thought about the need to force myself to write just for the sake of it.

What was stressing me out the most and making me feel less inspiration was that I promised myself and also said in a blog post that I was going to post two times a week on my blog, 5 days a week on my Instagram and 7 days a week on YouTube. It doesn’t seem like a lot, but when you still have general life stuff to do every day, don’t have great internet and can get called to work at the 11th hour,

It Just got too time-consuming and stressful to the point where I was up to 12 am most nights working out. Then waking up several times throughout the night, feeling stressed, which I still I’m to a degree.I never started blogging to get big or for the money, just wanted somewhere online where I could share my life.

But after 7 years of being in the blogging world and 4 years actually blogging it does get a bit lonely just blogging for yourself. You will see that I get comments, but if I didn’t take part in comment threads each week, I wouldn’t even get those and as nice as those people are, most of them are in different niches and age groups to me, so are very unlikely to become regular visitors.

So I’m going to focus less on writing blog posts and work more on building my tribe in the blogging world; as one day I would love to connect with and meet some bloggers or YouTubers in real life.

I’ve not let this get to me if I had I would have given up blogging years ago and just focused on getting a 9-5 job, but I don’t want to be that person, so I’ve stuck at it and kept pushing over the years. Blogging might not be my final destination, but I defiantly know I want to do something online.

I have also decided I’m not going to promise myself or anyone else that I’m not going to publish/upload on a specific day/time each week. I’m just going to write and post as, and when I get inspiration and feel like it, however, I’m hoping to aim for one post a week.

But if I have a week where I don’t feel great, or I’m super busy, I’m not going to stress myself out; I’m just not going to post and not worry about it.

I just feel like I need to spend a bit less time worrying about the content and more time connecting with other bloggers. Believe it or not, I can easily spend 30+hrs a week just focusing on my blog, YouTube, and social media content. Which if it was my full-time job, it would be great, but I just don’t have the time to dedicate that time.

I’m not going to stop taking the photos that I take or change the types of content that I write, but I do feel like, nowadays, it is more about how your blog content is styled not as much about what it’s about. I remember when I started out, you could take two photos of some products on your bathroom sink with your toothbrush in the background. Nowadays, if you do that no one wants to even look at your content.

I’m not planning on giving up blogging anytime soon, but I do think posting when I feel like it will make me feel less stressed and also give me more inspiration.

Have you ever felt lost in the online world?

As a blogger, I can relate to how you feel. Blogging can feel like a marathon and with the natural seasons of life, sometimes it can be hard to keep the same pace all the time. Remember, it’s ok for us to give ourselves a break sometimes!

Thanks feeling so much better from taking a break. Also good to know that other bloggers can relate to how I’ve been feeling as well.

It’s not easy to get readers, at least not for me. I really have to work at it, and that is something that really surprised me when I started. I do find myself taking “mini breaks” here and there, and it seems to help.
