My Thoughts A Year On
I‘ll be the first to admit that a skincare routine has never been a big part of my life. I mean, I always try and look after my skin, but over the years I’ve just stuck to cheap drugstore products and never invested in any ‘Luxury products’. So last Christmas, I decided to push the boat out and purchase a Clinique 3 step skincare gift box.
Which I have to say is the most I’ve ever spent on skincare products before, but a year later I’d got to say it’s the best skincare purchase that I’ve ever made.
I‘ve been doing this 3 step process virtually every day since I’ve bought these products. I did run out of the clarifying lotion after about 6 months, I still have a good amount of facial soap and moisturiser left. You may be thinking it’s a lot to spend, which I have to admit I did at first. Having said that, the difference to my skin is amazing. I’ve hardly had any major breakouts since I started using it. Which is a big plus for me as before that I was getting breakouts quite often.
The Clinique 3 Step skin routine consists of a cleanser, a toner and a moisturiser, each tailored to your specific skin type. These skin types are categorised as follows:
Skin Type 1 – Very Dry to Dry
Skin Type 2 – Dry Combination
Skin Type 3 – Oily
Skin Type 4 – Very Oily
If you’re unsure of what skin type you are, you can fill out this questionnaire ‘Find Your Skincare‘ on the Clinique website or go to your local Clinique counter and one of the lovely staff there can help you find out what skincare type you are. As I have sometimes really dry skin and sometimes oily skin I was recommended to go with the dry combination.
LIQUID FACIAL SOAP
I find this facial soap best when used in the shower, as you can lather it on without worrying about getting it all over yourself and all over the bathroom. It’s great for refreshing my skin in the morning and great at night for removing my everyday makeup. However, you will still need to use a waterproof makeup remover if use waterproof makeup. I love the fact that it’s a mild cleanser, however at first it did take me a few days to get use to it, but after that I was fine. It’s good as it doesn’t dry out my skin and leaves it to feel super clean.
All though the facial soap leaves your skin feeling ultra clean. I love using the clarifying lotion as I find it makes your skin feel even cleaner and helps reduce the size of your pores. However, be careful; as it is it alcohol base and can make your eyes sting.
DRAMATICALLY DIFFERENT MOISTURIZING LOTION +
I’ve tried quite a few moisturiser over the years and have to say that this one is by far the best. Not because it’s high end, just due to the fact it leaves your skin feeling ultra-hydrated, without the greasy feeling that some other moisturisers leave. Which is good for the hot climate I live in.
What’s your go-to skincare products?
