UPDATE ON WHAT’S BEEN HAPPENING

In my Life and on my Blog

Welcome to my first post of 2017. Still, can’t quite believe that I wrote this post in 2016 and published it in 2017. Where has the time gone? Anyways I thought I would start a new series on my blog this year called ‘The Monthly Edit’.

Did do something similar a few months ago called ‘The Sunday Mood’ then changed to the’The weekend Edit’ where I’d answer a set, set of questions every Sunday about my week. Which at first I loved, but then after a few weeks I realised that I was just repeating myself week in week out, because nothing much changed in my life.

I then thought I’ll just do it every fortnight, but I realised that although a bit more happened that I could talk about I was still answering the same questions. So decided to scrap that and hadn’t thought about it since, until last week when I thought my blog was missing something.

So have decided to start ‘The Monthly Edit’ which will just be me discussing what has happened in my life and blog over the past month. Hadn’t planned on starting it until the end of January, but had so much happen on my blog with my redesign and relaunch thought this was the perfect time to start.

Although it doesn’t look like I’ve posted a lot on my blog recently. This last month has been one of my busiest blogging months since I started over 3 years ago. Before I relaunched early December, 90% of my blog post would consist of a pic and a block of text of about 300 words, which wouldn’t take me very long to complete. Then with my relaunch, I decided I wanted my posts to look like a page in a magazine which they do.

But with doing that process of writing a post has become a 100% harder and more time consuming. It may not look like a lot, but one of these styles of posts can easily take 30+ hrs from taking the photos to hitting the publish button. Which I love the challenge don’t get me wrong, it just means that I have to dedicate more time to creating each post. Which can get hard with trying to fit it in with working and day to day stuff that I have to do.

So most months from now on I will be posting 1 post a week on a Sunday and if I get more time I may do a mid-week Wednesday post ever now and then. I would love to have my post scheduled in advance, but at this stage can’t picture that happening anytime soon. As most of my post, I’m still sat writing up until the publishing time which is 5 pm.

I didn’t relaunch untill the second week in December so only managed to write 3 posts. The first being ‘WHEN LIFE GIVES YOU LEMONS MAKE LEMONADE, which happens be my favourite posts of the monthly, mainly because it’s the first post that shows cases what I’ve spent so much time trying to achieve. The second posts I wrote was ‘Tried and Tested Liz Earle Skin Care Range’ which I really enjoyed writing as it was my first proper review of a product and also the first time a brand had noticed my tweet and replied.

The final post of the month was something, that I did when I first started blogging, but hadn’t done in a long time so decided to bring it back called ‘Stocking up on some new Summer Trends’. Which is basically a ‘Lust List’ of some of the clothes I’d like to buy this summer season.

I did also spend a lot of time last month thinking of content ideas for my blog and taking photos. Another reason why I’ve decided just to post once a week is that I want to keep my posts to a certain standard and I’m also worried about running out of content ideas and not being able to think of more.

I don’t talk about it much as it’s still a working progress, but I have been spending quite a bit of time working on my YouTube channel. But I will talk about that more next month as I still have quite a bit more work to do.

Then when I wasn’t focused on working on my blog and YouTube channel I was basically working, which some people might find boring, but I really enjoying be able to earn some money and work on my blog at the same time. Also as I don’t have time to take a bunch of different pics for this posts, all the pics you see will be my favourites from other posts that I’ve written in the past month

Hope you like this style of post. Let me know in the comments if there are any other topics you’d like me to do a post on.

I really love the new look of your blog – you’ve definitely achieved the look you were aiming for. It’s beautiful. I spent a lot of time over Christmas cleaning up my blog too – I don’t think people understand all the work that goes into the back end of blogging – layout, design, photo editing etc. Yours looks fabulous though!

I absolutely love the magazine style of your blog <3 And I much prefer to read longer posts than shorter ones so I'm glad you're doing that now. Keep up the great work 🙂
